POSITION DESCRIPTION


The Associate is a member of the Asset Management team and plays a key role in protecting, growing, and realizing the value of an international portfolio of private equity positions in the Infrastructure & Renewable Resources sector.

The Associate spends the majority of their time contributing to the ongoing stewardship of BCI's portfolio companies.

The Associate will also be expected to make meaningful contributions to the pursuit and execution of transactions to acquire new, or expand existing holdings, globally.


BCI is continually moving towards a more intensive asset management model, presenting compelling opportunities for investment professionals to shape, protect and add value to the portfolio.

Fundamental to the role is the ability to develop rigorous and independent insights into the ongoing performance of BCI's large direct investments.

These insights would be advanced toward action through an ability to build highly collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders including sourcing and deal teams, investee company executives and board members, lead investors (GP's) and other investors.

Above all else, the Associate brings a long-term value investing mindset, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a high level of drive and commitment to personal and firmwide success.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Asset Management of Existing Portfolio Companies

  • Review, evaluate and provide analytical support to develop business strategies, investment recommendations, budgets, and compensation schemes, as well as addressing other issues confronting board, shareholders, and management teams
  • Review board materials, helping to ensure appropriate governance structures and processes are in place at portfolio companies
  • Support a number of coverage companies globally with analysis of industry and company specific issues, focusing on findings that are material to longterm value and actionable by management in a pragmatic way
  • Assess materiality of strategic initiatives, and support their pursuit directly with management and through external advisors
Portfolio Monitoring and Oversight

  • Support development of and maintain tracking tools and processes to ensure sustained longterm returns and delivery of value creation initiatives such as tracking of KPI's and returns through investment software, eFront
  • Support the systematic development of objective and rigorous views on the longterm value and risk exposure of companies within the portfolio
  • Help facilitate discussions with other coverage teams to prioritize issues and interventions, advancing teams towards action by developing focused analyses and synthesizing implications as required
  • Contribute to a body of knowledge and institutional positions on recurring asset management themes and issues
Transaction Pursuit

  • As available work as an integrated part of deal teams, supporting the due diligence and execution of prospective investments by:
  • Preparing due diligence questions for prospective investments and scope for external advisors or performing direct diligence (ranging from screening to detailed) in areas of expertise
  • Supporting or performing financial analysis in aid of BCI investment underwriting
  • Synthesizing findings for valuation models and creating content for executivelevel investment memoranda and presentations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have:_
  • 25 years of experience focused on the pursuit of (or decision support for) investments in infrastructure or other capital intensive, real asset, energy or natural resource sectors with a foundation on financial analysis
  • Experience could be from a variety of backgrounds including investment management, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, business development, corporate FP&A, and M&A or large accounting firm(s)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: i.e., a proven ability to build lasting trustbased relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and strong personal drive to succeed
  • Preferred:_
  • Experience in or knowledge of infrastructure investments, particularly in the energy or transportation sectors
  • International experience and foreign language skills
  • Institutional buy side or investment advisory experience
