Responsibilities:


  • Using clear and concise communication, create visual style guides to align teams on the vision for UI content.
  • Provide written and visual feedback to guide the internal and external art team on quality, consistency, and brand style.
  • Prototype interface designs, menu systems and style boards including Icon Design, Motion Design and Interaction Architecture.
  • Partner with the Art Director, conduct reviews and provide regular feedback in line with the vision set out by art direction, maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Partner with the Production team to provide estimates, proactively manage risks and assign tasks, ensuring work is completed on time at a high level of quality.
  • Using a positive style of communication, connecting with other leads and looking out for dependencies, blockers and cross department challenges actively working together to provide creative solutions to resolve them.
  • Lead and motivate the UI team to realize overall goals and deliver a successful project on time.
  • Help establish, refine, and clearly communicate a vision to both the internal and external teams and The Coalition studio leadership.
  • Facilitate professional growth of team members by providing feedback and conducting timely 1:1 meetings.
  • Keep up to date on new industry trends.

Qualifications:


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related art field AND 4+ years experience in art design or a related art field working on computer games.
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years' people management experience (e.g., serving as a Lead Designer, Design Manager, Creative Director, etc.).
  • 3+ years' working in the game industry specializing in interface design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of colour, tone, and composition.
  • Understanding of how UI visuals support the tone of the game and ability to evaluate competitive products.
  • Great graphic design skills working with layout and typography.
  • Proven ability to work in a variety of art styles.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine, Unity or other 3D software packages a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of Figma a bonus.
  • Knowledge of the production lifecycle, from concept to completion.
  • Previous experience as a production artist.
  • Experience working with external partners.
  • Able to communicate effectively with both artists and programmers.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Works well within deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Have a passion for mentoring and sharing methodologies with fellow team members.


Art M- The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $104,000 - CAD $193,200 per year.
