Manager

Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR)

In this role you will:


  • Facilitate the relocation of the Institute as a key priority.
  • Be responsible for onsite needs and physical space and safety needs of the Institute as required.
  • Liaise as needed with departments such as Finance, IT, Communications, Procurement, People and Experience, Legal, Research Ethics Board and Research Operations, Services & Support (ROSS)
  • Provide assistance to IMHPR research operations and activities, including epidemiological and clinical research.
  • Assist grants and awards to coordinate and track pre and post awards for IMHPR research grant proposal submissions.
  • Help facilitate and further IMHPR knowledge translation and cross collaboration initiatives.
  • Assist with recruiting, on boarding and training of personnel and trainees as required.
  • Assist in the facilitation and maintenance of the institutional equipment and assets, including the mobile lab units.
  • Support the annual budget planning process for the Institute and tracking of actuals for all grant funded accounts as required.
  • Support and facilitate communications both intra and interdepartmentally.
  • Engage interorganizational managers and external suppliers concerning project activities, operational decisions, scheduling requirements or contractual clarifications.
  • Support departmental communication and messaging as required.
  • Perform work in accordance with applicable provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
  • Support and facilitate ethical and regulatory compliance of CAMH and Research policies, including sensitive and confidential priorities.
  • Support a work environment that embraces diversity and is free of harassment and discrimination.
This position is primarily located at 33 Ursula Franklin on-site.


Qualifi
cations

  • Master's degree in business or research related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • 5 years+ relevant management experience in a research related environment is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in a grant based research environment is required.
  • Business and/or financial experience (e.g. reading financial reports and preparing budgets)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion and a genuine interest in supporting scientific research.
  • Advancedlevel knowledge of MS Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other knowledge translation and project management software and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate and oversee various complex projects.
  • Valid driver's license with very good driving record.
  • Experience and knowledge regarding research approaches and protocols, including epidemiological and clinical trial research
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze, evaluate, and resolve problems.
  • Strong communication and motivational skills, and a record of productive and cooperative work with teams and individuals.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently with mínimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced knowledge of research office administration and financial practices.
  • Project management or business administration experience would be an asset
  • Knowledge of risk management practices
  • Capable of original thinking and able to initiate ideas to move projects forward
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset
