Description

Key Job Elements

  • Conduct Internal Audits, initiate Corrective Action Requests, initiate revisions and maintain QMS procedures in a manufacturing environment.
  • Coordinate with functional leads in accordance with GDLS-Canada ISO Quality, Environmental, Heath & Safety and Energy (QEHSEn) System.
  • Develop Control Plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) in response to audit findings and measure the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Assess business processes for compliance to QMS.
  • Communicate with the onsite Department of National Defense (DND) Quality Assurance representatives.
  • Maintain metrics on applicable audit, corrective action and DND CARs.
  • Investigate specific nonconformances upon request.
  • Participate on ISO Core Team.
  • Prepare for annual ISO audits.
  • Comply with GDLS-Canada Trade Compliance, Safety, Security rules and regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 35 years relevant experience
  • Previous experience as QMS Auditor with the ISO 9001 Quality Management System in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong written communicator

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Science and/or Statistics
  • ISO Lead Auditor Certification
  • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor / Engineer
  • Experience implementing a Quality Management System
  • Eligible for Professional Engineering certification

Work Environment

Physical Conditions and Hazards:


Production shop floor support employees are responsible for maintaining support for touch labour and as such may spend a significant time in the production environment.

Production shop floor support employees may be exposed to loud noise, dust, weld fume, paint and extreme temperatures.


Production shop floor support employees may also assist the touch labour with the movement parts equipment as requested, this may include light lifting.

In addition, Production shop floor support employees may be required to complete various administrative tasks depending on the job function

Computer based desk work is also required throughout the day.


Production/Sustainment shop floor support employees may be required to work shift work which may include rotation between day, afternoon, and night shifts.

Additionally, overtime may be required on an as needed basis and may include weekend work.


Physical Demands Description:


Usual mobility demands required are standing, walking, sitting, and stair climbing to access upper offices and process work envelopes some stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, and crouching may be required at times while assisting workers or accessing low placed items.

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and that all of its workforce be security assessed.

As such, successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including, but not limited to, the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance to secret level.
