RLG350H1 The Life of Muhammad


Course Description:
This course examines Muhammad's life as reflected in the biographies and historical writings of the Muslims. Students will be introduced to the critical methods used by scholars to investigate Muhammad's life.


Issues include:
relationship between Muhammad's life and Quran teachings and the veneration of Muhammad.

Salary:


  • Sessional Lecturer I $9,457.90
  • Sessional Lecturer I Long-Term $9,930.7
  • Sessional Lecturer II $10,121.7
  • Sessional Lecturer II Long-Term $10,326.6
  • Sessional Lecturer III $10,362,7
  • Sessional Lecturer III Long-Term $10,570.02


Please note that should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • PhD in Religion or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated teaching experience as a teaching assistant or course instructor

Description of Duties:


  • Develop a detailed syllabus for the course
  • Presenting weekly lectures and classes as appropriate
  • Grading papers and exams
  • Meeting with students individually as they request
  • Handling other pedagogical and administrative tasks ordinarily associated with an undergraduate course
