Why is this role important?

Reporting to the Director, Internal Audit, will be a part of our industry leading Internal Audit & Risk Management team.

This role involves a focus to effectively carrying out different aspects of the Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix Store Audit Program.

While focus is on stores, responsibilities will include multiple aspects of processes that may flow to/from stores, including planning, fieldwork, reporting, and deeper review/investigation as needed.

Under the direction of the Director, Internal Audit, communications as a team player with multiple stakeholders are critical.

Responsibilities will also include being a strong contributor to a small team with a big mandate, continuously innovating and embracing changes in our Enterprise.

This role will provide the opportunity to combine your technical, auditing and people skills to effectively advise and support Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix on risk related matters.

You will join a dedicated and motivated team with exposure to multiple industries within the enterprise including grocery retail, pharmaceutical, real estate and banking.

What you'll do?

  • Manage the end to end audit lifecycle planning, execution, reporting and follow up
  • Prepare for review and comment store audit reports in a timely manner.
  • Use data analytics to increase effectiveness and efficiency of audits
  • Ensure compliance to policies, standards and procedures according to departmental and enterprise requirements
  • Provide input and recommendations to audit management in developing a risk based annual audit plan
  • Provide advisory services to business management on issues related to risk assessment, controls and governance
  • Participate in special investigations as required
  • Work on initiatives to increase the effectiveness, value and reputation of the audit department
  • Provide professional reports from store audit results and observations to various stakeholders, with an emphasis on positive changes within our frameworks that may be implemented within the stores.
  • Assist the Director in preparing store audit metrics, insights, quarterly and annual reporting. and quarterly reports for communications to stakeholders.
  • Assist in contributing to buy in and acceptance of the store audit program from stakeholders including Associates (franchisees).
  • Discuss audit results with management.
  • Contribute to building relationships with stakeholders as part of a strong quality program, and to ensure audit work is carried out with flexibility, respect and mínimal disruption at store level.
  • Through communication, strong listening skills and belief in the store audit program, continuously promote the positive impact and perception of the store audit program and be an ambassador of the Brand.
  • Contribute to the enterprise focus of the store audit program, help balance regional/banner specific issues and concerns both within the program itself and during ongoing management of the program.
  • Work with your team to be a catalyst for positive change, an important store support resource, and manage difficult situations respectfully, timely and professionally.
What we are looking for?

  • Bilingual is required. Fluent in French and English written and verbal.
  • 80% of National travel is required.
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of internal auditing, control standards and internal consulting skills
  • Designated CPA an asset
  • Designated CIA, CRMA, CFE an asset
  • 5 years of audit experience or other industry specific experience
  • Team player with excellent ability be agile, collaborate and effectively prioritize to manage and complete projects within tight timelines
  • Selfstarter with excellent communication skills (written, oral and presentation) and interpersonal skills, comfortable presenting to Senior Executives
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills
  • Proficient in Micros
