Reporting to the Manager, Fleet & Equipment while working in conjunction with the Fleet Lead, the Tool & Equipment Lead will coordinate activities associated with tools, equipment, warehouse, and yard.

They will assist in scheduling & maintenance of equipment, and of the inspection and record management of all tools and inventory including analyzing the need for replacement and/or the cost of repairs.

This position will support the development and implementation of advanced technology for the consolidated management of tools and equipment.

This position is based in Edmonton.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Work together with the Digital Optimization team to research and investigate advanced software and processes to provide recommendations for the implementation of an automated tool management solution.
  • Provide knowledge and expertise in the development and advancement of tool and equipment management strategies.
  • Support the RFx process for the selection of a tooling and equipment software system.
  • Lead for technical tooling and equipment knowledge to support the RFx process.
  • Collaborate with operations to assess and improve current tool and equipment management processes.
  • Migrate all onsite tools and equipment into a software management system.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain to capture new tool and equipment purchases into the software system.
  • Report on inventory levels, supply chain progress and procedural efficiencies.
  • Coordinate and schedule daily activities of equipment and tool requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of available, tools, materials and equipment, monitoring overall demand to anticipate future supply needs.
  • Complete data analysis to determine and identify inventory levels, utilization, and potential shortages and/or delivery delays.
  • Propose and implement strategies to reduce cost and improve procedures for supply chain logistics.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance of tools and equipment including testing and calibration, providing required reporting to management.
  • Develop loss prevention program and strategies to eliminate loss and hoarding while maximizing utilization.
  • Assess and escalate safety concerns.
  • Coordinate with Manager of Fleet & Equipment, Operations and Purchasing or other personnel to expedite movement of tools/equipment between project sites or suppliers.
  • Assist in the layout of tool rooms, warehouse, yard and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight and related factors of tools and items being stored.
  • Advise employees on care and preservation of items received, stored and shipped methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining and shipping stock and related problems.
  • Schedule work for special and periodic tools and equipment inventories.
  • Develop business relationships with internal customers and key suppliers.
What We Are Looking For

  • A combination of training, education and experience equivalent to 5+ years in an Industrial Construction Inventory, Tool, and Equipment inventory environment
  • Warehousing knowledge and experience would be considered an asset
  • Team Lead or supervisory experience would be considered an asset
  • Implementation experience with tool management software such as ToolHound or ToolWatch.
  • Experience using SAP or other ERP's is an essential requirement
  • Mechanically inclined with a proven ability to adapt quickly to ev
