Description

Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Payroll, this position is part of a high-performing fast paced team providing payroll services support for the Hospital and Foundation.

Ensuring that employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with Government legislation, reporting guidelines, Hospital Policy and Statutory requirements for a full payroll cycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze reports to maintain payroll, benefits and attendance transactions within a centralized computerized environment
  • Work with other departments such as Finance, Human Resources and Centralized Staffing and Scheduling to support the employees from New Hire to Retirement and all changes in between
  • Coordinate and process payroll ensuring the integrity of the payroll and all related transactions
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies/errors and escalate for resolution where appropriate
  • Process and balance payroll expenses, deductions and adjustments
  • Assist in all Year End Processes, CRA filings, Benefit reconciliations and Pension reporting
  • Act as a resource in providing a full range of specialized payroll/personnel and finance services in a unionized environment
  • Provide support for project work and other duties as required

Requirements:


  • Enrolled in or completion of CPA's Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate
  • Requires 23 years of Payroll Experience
  • Extensive experience in a fully computerized environment, with preference to Meditech
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs and Internet
  • Experience with integrated HR/Payroll/Staffing & Scheduling system, Meditech preferred
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to meet deadlines
  • Proficient analytical skills
  • Exceptional organizational and timemanagement skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team under pressure/stressful conditions and to meet tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work at peak demands, e.g. Year End
