The Mustard Seed provides basic services - food, clothing and housing, and support services - education and employment, to those living in poverty within Alberta and British Columbia.

Monday to Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM

Sr. Director of Health & Wellness


Location:
Wellness Centre, Edmonton, AB

  • Develop and articulate a visionary growth plan for the program, actively working towards its achievement. Play a pivotal role in program development by providing innovative response plans to address identified areas of need.
  • Inspire and motivate a team of multidisciplinary professionals to provide comprehensive support services to clients experiencing chronic homelessness and other barriers to stability and health.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with external agencies to better serve clients and connect them with resources and services.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to internal housing and other support systems at The Mustard Seed, working closely with other departments and teams to ensure that clients receive comprehensive, coordinated care that meets their needs
  • Provide leadership and support to Health and Wellness staff and help them grow and develop in their roles.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to ensure staff members are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their roles.
  • Conduct oneonone meetings with staff to connect with them on a personal level and ensure their needs are being met.
  • Provide some clinical services as appropriate and provide supervision to student interns.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of client data and program outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with the Sr. Director of Health & Wellness to maintain, develop, and evaluate all policies, procedures, and budgets.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Director of Health & Wellness to develop key performance indicators that will be used to monitor progress and provide measurable metrics to define the objectives for success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Postgraduate degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or related health field.
  • Eligible to pursue registration with appropriate governing college of applicable profession or will be registered within a year after starting the position.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff to achieve their full potential and promoting a culture of respect, inclusivity, and open communication.
  • Minimum five years' experience working in Mental Health is considered an asset
  • Passionate about working with vulnerable populations, particularly those experiencing homelessness, and committed to supporting them to achieve stability, independence, and positive change.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly those experiencing homelessness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Edmonton's community (mental) health and addiction resources and adept in navigating those systems.
  • Knowledge of FOIP and HIA.
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs).

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a fulltime basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Driver's Abstract, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Employment Security Check is required
  • Participate in all staff training (e.g. First Aid, SafeTALK, Nonviolence Crisis Intervention, Naloxone Training)
