Digital Accelerator Lead - Radiology


The purpose of this position is to set up, provide strategic leadership and operational management of the Radiology Digital Accelerator based in Toronto, Canada.

The Digital Accelerator will be focused on collaboration with external partners in the digital and Artificial Intelligence (AI) space, with an eye toward enhancing and augmenting radiology imaging and workflow solutions.

What you will do:


  • Accelerator Strategic and Operational Ownership and Accountability: Fully accountable and responsible for setting up, leading, managing, and establishing strategic direction for the Toronto Digital Accelerator. This includes establishing a local team of community managers, AI and scientific specialists, technical leads, and students.

Digital Partnerships:

Increase partnerships with the Greater Toronto Area digital and AI community, bringing products, technology, capabilities, and talent closer to our Commercial and Digital organizations.


  • Product Identification: Identify meaningful digital and AI solutions in close collaboration with the Canadian Radiology commercial and digital organizations, other technology hubs within Bayer, external partners and Bayer crossfunctional teams. These solutions must meet customer and patient unmet needs.
  • Commercial Communication and Partnership: Partner with local commercial team and global marketing chapter teams to plan activities/events and to define communications and outreach concepts to internal and external stakeholders (ex: LinkedIn).

Governmental Partnerships:
Establish a network and cultivate relationships with local government, academic institutions, hospitals and Key Opinion Leaders.

  • Project Ownership, Alignment and Resourcing: Develops and drives the advancement and implementation of Bayer's portfolio of innovation projects taking place at the Digital Accelerator by ensuring resource availability. Actively drives go/ nogo decisions with partners.
  • Accelerator Project Management: Advises and ensures alignment with startup partners of the accelerator. Manages all Digital Accelerator activities, programs and projects to ensure alignment with residents of the accelerator with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Program Ownership: Conducts, designs, facilitates and translates program strategy into concrete program plans and actively aligns with relevant stakeholders and updates or adjusts the program risk/opportunity profiles and mitigation plans.

Steering Committee Updates:

Must understand the scientific rationale of business challenges so can advise Bayer senior management and the Bayer Radiology Digital Accelerator steering committee on the of portfolio projects.


  • Recruiting: Sets up digital footprint and positions Toronto Radiology Digital Accelerator within the Bayer Radiology Digital and AI network and keeps up to date on the latest innovation trends and developments in the relevant focus areas. Attracts talent by providing mentoring to a local startup company and academic talent.
  • Team Leadership/ Recruiting/ Meetings/ PM: Provides effective leadership including individual goal setting/performance reviews, managing the development of employees, recognizing and appreciating employee contributions, mitigating conflict and communication problems, planning and facilitating team activities, selecting personnel and motivating members of the functional area.
  • Diversity: Supports workforce diversity, quality, and safety.

Who you are:


  • MBA, Information Technology/ Computer Science degree, Ph.
D. in Engineering, Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmacology or any related Life Sciences specialty.

  • 5 plus years of relevant experience in the Digital Healthcare AI, startup, biopharma and/or innovation industry with experience in leading complex environments and projects.
  • Experience working in a startup or accelerator would be considered a plus.
  • Preference would be given to individuals with an advanced degree, due to the high level of technical and professional maturity required to function effectively in a team leadership role where many of the team members are Director level peers with advanced scientific or medical degrees.
