Description

This is a 6-month mandate in Jerusalem or Ramallah,
Occupied Palestinian Territory/Israel.**The mandate is under the _Equality in Action _Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 14 countries and 3 regions over a seven-year period


The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality.

Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights.

Here's what your daily life will look like:
In close collaboration with Oxfam's in-country team members, your mandate will be to:

  • Evaluate and analyse partners' safeguarding capacities, policies, guidelines and practices and design tailored safeguarding strategies and capacity-building plans for each partner based on Oxfam's safeguarding core standards.
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments related to safeguarding within partner organizations and develop strategies to mitigate identified risks.
  • Enhance or establish a clear rightsbased reporting process for safeguarding concerns that prioritizes confidentiality and respects human rights.
  • Support partners in raising awareness of safeguarding policies in local communities and equip community members with reporting mechanisms.

For this mandate you must:


  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada;
  • Have university degree in social work, psychology, law or other relevant field;
  • Have 5 years of experience in Safeguarding or child protection with as well as a strong understanding of Safeguarding ethical standards;
  • Have proficiency in using relevant safeguarding software and tools for documentation, data analysis, and reporting;
  • Have a good knowledge of the sociopolitical context in the Middle East;
  • Be fluent in English, spoken and written (required);
  • Master the Office suite.
