The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis.

The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.


The MMF seeks to fill
one full-time Administrative Assistant position within our
Culture & Heritage Department located at 150 Henry Ave in
Winnipeg, MB.

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Director and will assist in the day-to-day operations of the department.


_ Job Duties/Competencies:
_


  • Draft, type, and proofread documents including but not limited to; reports, letters, briefing notes, memoranda, statements, forms;
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, travel arrangements and maintain calendar;
  • Establish administrative procedures to meet objectives of the Culture & Heritage Department;
  • Photocopy and organize documents for distribution, mailing, filing, and faxing;
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems and electronic and hard copy filing systems;
  • Assist with appropriate arrangements and ensure supports are in place for meetings;
  • Prepare agenda and information kits for meetings and take, transcribe, and edit meeting minutes;
  • Receive clients and visitors, answer and screen incoming calls, maintain a phone log and determines urgency.

_ Skills and Qualifications:
_


  • Postsecondary education in Business Administration, Administrative Assistant, or related field;
  • Two years' experience as an Administrative Assistant or similar role;
  • Excellent communication skills including experience drafting correspondence and preparing reports;
  • Experience in a computerized office environment with a proven ability with Microsoft Office;
  • Minimum typing speed of 50 WPM;
  • Demonstrated ability to work under time limitations and produce accurate results;
  • Experience working with boards and/or committees is preferred;
  • Experience working for a notforprofit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
