SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:


Purchasing

Purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.


Costing
To identify, analyze, control input costs associated with production, including both variable and fixed costs.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Purchasing
Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
Ensure costs are always updated in the ERP system and effectively communicated to the Sales/Project Management team.
Maintain records of inventory to determine when new goods need to be ordered.
Optimize the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations.
Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities.

Negotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.

Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier relationships.
Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.
Conduct research for new components and suppliers.
Assess and evaluate suppliers and contribute to performance reviews to ensure contract compliance.

Costing
Analyze and update the standard costs in the IQMS ERP system. These should always be kept up-to-date.
Involved in early phase new project assessments.
Analyze the variance between actual costs and standard costs. Provide explanation for the variances.
Recommend changes in operating procedures to improve efficiencies in payment and procurement processes.
Stay up to date on project budgets and project spending.
Examine data to provide recommendations for cost-saving strategies.

Education:


  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

Experience:


  • Procurement: 7 years (preferred)
  • Cost management: 7 years (preferred)
  • ERP systems: 7 years (preferred)
  • Accounting: 5 years (preferred)
