Designed to meet the needs of multiple events, Nova Scotia's Halifax Convention Centre offers over 120,000 square feet of flexible event space in the heart of downtown.

The Halifax Convention Centre is part of the Nova Centre, a million-square-foot, mixed-use development that includes a hotel, office towers, and retail space.

It is the largest integrated development project in the province's history.


THE POSITION:


THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Research and identify potential conference opportunities in the international market as well as national opportunities that align with key strategic sectors.

Business development leadership and relationship management in the international market.
Initiate, cultivate and maintain strong relationships with potential clients, ensuring long-term partnerships.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and potential opportunities.
Develop and manage an active pipeline of opportunity.
Monitor and evaluate market dynamics, adjusting strategies and approaches as needed.
Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on business development activities, targets, and achievements.

Prepare for industry events and sales missions by conducting research and prospecting registration lists and support booking appointments with potential clients.

Attend industry events, sales missions and tradeshows when deemed appropriate.

THE PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is considered as an asset
Proven experience working in a similar role, preferably in the convention centre or hospitality industry.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
Sound judgment and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset.
Expert use of web search tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and capitalize on opportunities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for business development and sales tracking.

Events East

We manage and operate the Halifax Convention Centre, Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic.

Created as part of a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, we work in collaboration with them to manage our business in a responsible and transparent manner.


We were established in 2014 through legislation to operate, maintain and manage the activities of the Halifax Convention Centre in a manner that will promote and develop economic development, tourism and industry in the Province generally, and the Municipality.


Effective April 1, 2017, our mandate expanded to include the continued management and operations of Scotiabank Centre and Ticket Atlantic, formerly under Trade Centre Limited (TCL).

Our facilities and the events we attract are platforms for prosperity.
