With a focus on the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

  • Maintain site assets, including fencing, minor plumbing repairs, snow removal, grass cutting, tree trimming, painting, splitting wood and garden preparation
  • Operate a variety of tools and equipment, such as snow plows, snow blowers, chainsaws, skid steers, table saws, generators, vfds
  • Perform various carpentry duties, such as repairing boardwalks, assembling/repairing tables and benches, and managing other small projects as they arise
  • Inspect and perform minor repairs on mechanical rides
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure successful events, including performing event set up and take down
  • Contribute to a respectful and safetyoriented team culture by updating training, setting safe work practices and providing direction to individuals and other units
  • Other related duties as required

Qualifications:


  • Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent; Grade 12 or equivalent is an asset
  • 1 year labourer experience, including park and building maintenance, carpentry, performing minor mechanical repairs and the use of antique vehicles, equipment and tools
  • Previous Fort Edmonton Park labourer experience and/or experience with amusement rides is considered an asset
  • Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment, including chainsaws, weed whips, rideon mowers, bobcats, groundsmasters and antique vehicles
  • Physical ability and manual dexterity to lift up to 50 lbs (picnic tables, benches, power tools, etc.) and complete repetitive physical labour for 8 hours per day in various weather and environmental conditions
  • Knowledge of safety precautions and hazards involved with the assigned work
  • Ability to succeed independently and as part of a team, including advising less experienced staff
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills, including the ability to complete tasks within tight time constraints
  • Strong written/verbal communication and customer service skills
  • Compliance with the City of Edmonton's safety standards for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as wearing steeltoed boots and a respirator, is required
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C at time of hire is a requirement of this position
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement

_ Up to 5 temporary full-time positions for up to 11 months_

Hours of Work:
Up to 40 hours per week, 6:00 am - 11:00 pm, 7 days a week. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays is required.
