The Disability Support Program Sector fosters individual choice, social inclusion, enhances quality of life, and offers the opportunity to provide skills needed to help individuals live in their communities.
We are currently seeking a Dietary Aide to assist with the preparation of all foods to be served to the residents of the Residential Rehabilitation Facility.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the preparation and cooking of food according to posted menus, using standardized recipes. Carries out some preparation and cooking independently as knowledge and experience progresses.
- Maintains a high level of sanitation personally when performing work functions, and in the physical work areas.
- Is familiar with the operation and cleaning of all kitchen equipment.
- Practices portion control when serving and/or replenishing food.
- May deliver food carts to units.
- Replenishes food on units as required.
- Cleans and sanitizes work area.
- May be required to receive food deliveries and assist in placing same in freezer and walkin refrigerator.
- Prepares food for the following day.
- Complies with Centre Policies, fire and safety procedures, the Department of Health and Safety, Personnel Policies and carries out guidelines of same.
- Attends education sessions relevant to the position.
- Participates in Menu Planning as required.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent is mandatory.
- Food Handlers certification required (will train on site)
- Experience in Food Service preferred.
- Able to take oral instruction and act on it. Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Must be capable of standing for long periods of time.
SALARY:
$17.75/hour
- Full benefit package with Blue Cross and Pension Plan
