Job Description:


  • Plan, initiate and/or revise procedures and systems (i.e. SOP's, checklists, templates, forms, and other quality documentation) necessary to ensure the maintenance and improvement of the company quality program.
  • Provides SOP training, quality crew talk and internal regulatory training as needed.
  • Update client specifications and requirements documents as needed and ensure all applicable personnel are trained.
  • Ensure major technical nonconformances and areas of quality risk are brought to the attention of the Quality Assurance Manager and Technical /Lab Manager.
  • Work in partnership with other supervisors/managers to solve client problems to ensure quality and customer satisfaction standards are met.
  • Ensure nonconformances (i.e. failure or deviation), customer complaints and Outofspecification results are adequately investigated for root cause and approve corrective action plan in consultation with the Quality Assurance Manager and Technical/Lab Manager.
  • Liaise with Technical/Lab Manager and Customer Services to monitor and report to management on the quality performance with respect to customer complaints, claims, nonconformances, implementation of corrective actions, and testing quality control performance trends and biases.
  • Verify satisfactory implementation of corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and maintain internal quality controls for testing and external Proficiency and Round Robin programs and performance applicable to site testing capabilities.
  • Ensure maintenance of quality controls charts and review chart performance with respect to trends, biases and nonconformance
  • Monitors and maintain verification processes within the laboratory operation
  • Plan and maintain internal blind proficiency testing program for quality control
  • Assist the lab in planning and seeking participation of external programs for monitoring testing proficiency
  • Monitor performance of internal and external proficiency testing outcome and support the lab in root cause investigation and corrective action determination of unsatisfactory results.
  • Performs internal audits and necessary follow up according to internal audit schedule (may involve additional site audits as needed)
  • Prevent release of any report, Certificate of Analysis, or information to the customer when a deficiency is identified during a technical audit.
  • Backup for daytoday data authorizations and issuing of reports to clients
  • Plan and conduct special projects such as shelf life studies and research and development (R&D) work for new test methods or capabilities in response to client/market needs.
  • Works with the lab personnel to continuously improve lab products and services.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all general SOPs pertaining to the Analytical Services.
  • Keep uptodate with the advancements in new technology and bring them to the attention of the management.
  • Assist the department as needed to validate testing scheme set up in LIMS before use and accuracy ongoing such as but not limited to the test parameters, calculation and reporting, and quality controls.
  • Ensure control systems for reference standards, cultures and media, and for equipment calibration and maintenance are adequately maintained by the department
  • Participates in preparation and hosting of inspections by clients, regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • May work as a backup in designated areas in the absence of Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Conduct other miscellaneous projects as assigned.
  • Support the department in the company operational integrity requirements.

Qualifications:


  • BSc. degree in Agriculture, Microbiology, Food Science, Food Technology, or related field with five or more years of experience in a commercial agriculture or food testing laboratory.
  • Post Graduate degree or graduate level courses in Agriculture or Food related discipline preferred
  • Five years or more of experience in microbiological testing
  • Experience in quality control role in a related field
