The Job:


Are you our next Child and Youth Resource Specialist? Reporting to the Beyond Jobs Program Manager, this role will serve as the resource specialist and assist the Beyond Jobs team and clients to navigate the childcare system, and access appropriate childcare and additional youth resources.

The position works closely with Career and Life Coach to assist clients in securing appropriate childcare and support for youth (recreation, tutoring, etc. as required).

This position will also provide support to client's children for any appropriate recreation, tutoring or other assistance they may require.


What you'll be doing:


  • Understanding the Childcare System in Alberta and provide expertise to the team for anything related to childcare
  • Completing intake meetings with new clients to understand detailed childcare needs. Including specific location required, any unique or special needs for family/children, transportation to and from care, ages and numbers of children, recreation or tutoring support required for school age children, whether or not family qualifies for subsidies
  • Researching appropriate childcare solution for each client.
  • Assisting clients in assessing childcare options so that client can choose most suitable option for their specific circumstances.
  • Researching and develop partnerships with appropriate resources in the community. This would include tutors or similar organizations, recreation associations and other agencies.
  • Working with other Beyond Jobs team members to ensure client receives the full support needed.
  • Completing follow up meetings with Client to ensure childcare is meeting their needs and assessing if other supports required.
  • Supporting any clients who are interested in setting up their own day home. Including helping them get started with early childhood education courses, understanding licensing requirements, helping them access grants to support opening a day home and providing assistance with budgeting.

What you bring to the table:

  • Degree, diploma or graduate certificate in Early Childhood Education or Minimum of 3 years experience working with children or youth or running a daycare or day home.
  • Knowledge and experience navigating the childcare system in Alberta.
  • You hold yourself and fellow Team Members accountable in their roles and for their contributions to Goodwill's mission & core purpose.
  • Knowledge and experience regarding programs and agencies supporting youth and children in Alberta.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office.
  • A clear criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check.
  • Advanced written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Ability to research and analyze complex situations and make recommendations.
  • Excellent decision making and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, demonstrated coaching and team building skills.
  • Displays a high level of emotional intelligence, including resilience, influencing skills and effective interactions that build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • You prioritize safety in all tasks, ensuring safety of self as well as fellow Team Members.
