***The OH&S Field Safety Coordinator will be responsible for working with the Corporate OHS Manager, General Superintendent, and OH&S Administrator in a collaborative and team approach to ensure site compliance with OH&S legislation and providing support in promoting a culture of safety at Wales McLelland Construction.


SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES / SITE SUPPORT

  • Attend Site startup meetings, assist with Mob-In procedures
  • Work with site personnel to perform walk through site inspections
  • Pre-Job Review of all required safety checklists
  • Assist with the Identification of current or previously unknown hazards
  • Assist site safety personnel in establishing controls for each know hazard.
  • Work with site personnel to conduct detailed investigations, report and follow up action items for every injury, accident, or near miss incident
  • Conduct monthly Site Safety inspections and reporting
  • Identify and review various health and safety concerns specific to the work site
  • Provide information and act as a resource to the Joint Health & Safety Committee, site safety personnel, and Site Superintendents

SUBCONTRACTOR SAFETY

  • Assist with requests to subs for OHS information, follow up with required information
  • Work with our subtrade partners to improve safe work practices and required OHS documentation

SAFETY ADMINISTRATION REVIEW

  • Review all safety infractions (WM and ST), incident/investigation reports, and WorkSafe Inspections
  • Report to OHS Manager re site safety inspection findings

COR AUDIT SUPPORT

  • Assist with the annual OHS Program audit
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the COR action items following the annual audit
  • Engage field staff to ensure their understanding of the COR action items

SAFETY ASSET MANAGEMENT

  • Assist with the distribution of first aid items and safety items to sites

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial construction/site safety (onsite safety support when required)
  • Construction Safety Officer or NCSO training
  • Solid knowledge of construction experience, processes, and site safety
  • Valid BC Driver's License (Note position involves travel to various WM site operations across Lower Mainland)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation
  • Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety Management (or better)
  • COR Internal Auditor certification
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 (OFA 2) minimum
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fastpaced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear and accurate documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highpressure situations in a professional manner; take an educational approach to provide safety support to Operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent oral/interpersonal communication skills

Salary:
$75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Experience:
construction/ site safety: 5 years (required)


License/Certification:

  • Construction Safety Officer or NCSO training
