Manitoba Parks Branch is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Parks Team as Park Ecologist (KP2)

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must possess and maintain a full stage Manitoba class 5 Drivers Licence
  • Must be willing to travel throughout Manitoba with overnight stays

Qualifications:

Essential:


  • Post-Secondary education in natural resources management, environmental science, landscape planning, conservation biology, ecosystem management program or a similar program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience implementing field studies or project experience with terrestrial ecosystems and landscape or watershed level studies.
  • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to present to and interact with a variety of audiences.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and balance multiple, competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.

The Park Ecologist administers Manitoba's Ecological Reserves Program and undertakes a variety of environmental assessment, resource management and planning functions on a province-wide basis.

The position coordinates a variety of branch priority projects and programs that contribute to the promotion and conservation of the provincial park system and provides ecological input, advice and knowledge into protected and conserved areas planning in Manitoba.
