Reporting to the Supervisor, System Operations Support, this position contributes to the team that is responsible for providing customer focused support to the System Operations Center by monitoring and maintaining the process control system (SCADA/EMS) and provides hardware and software support for SCADA servers, workstations, network equipment, etc.

In addition this position provides support for systems used to provide both electronic and physical security for ATCO Electric's Critical Infrastructure and works with the Cyber Security Office and other operational groups to maintain compliance with the Alberta Reliability Standards for Critical Infrastructure Protection (ARS CIP).

What You Get to Do:


  • Perform preventative maintenance monitoring of hardware and software programs for the SCADA/EMS servers, workstations, local area network, security devices and associated equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance monitoring of hardware and software programs for the equipment used for electronic and physical security and ARS CIP compliance e.g. firewalls, IDS, SIEM, patch management systems, physical access control systems, malware prevention systems, etc.
  • Collect evidence required for ARS CIP compliance.
  • Perform database maintenance and management, performance and security monitoring, system backups, and general system administration as required.
  • Provide timely response and resolution to LINUX and Windows operating system problems as well as process control software problems. This includes mandatory participation in the On-Call rotation.
  • Support hardware and software enhancements to the SCADA/EMS system. This includes planning future system growth, researching technologies, writing business cases, developing workplans, implementing and testing enhancements with an emphasis on total quality.

Qualifications:


  • Diploma in Computer Systems Technology, Computer Engineering Technology or Network Engineering Technology) from a recognized technical institute; a university degree from a recognized university in a computer science or computer engineering related field would be an asset.
  • Two years of experience in three or more of the following areas:
  • Installation, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting of cyber security measures including firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEMs, etc.
  • Structured programming in higher level languages, such as "C", python and shell scripting.
  • Working with and administering a variety of operating system including Windows and Linux with an emphasis on working with command line programs.
  • Installing, upgrading, maintaining and troubleshooting Intel x86/x64 based workstations and servers.
  • TCP/IP network administration including installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco network equipment (switches, routers and firewalls) and Windows and Linux based network hosts.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a wider range of experience in these areas.
  • Excellent problem solving, written and oral communication, analytical, interpersonal and team skills.
