Mission:

The Regional Manager - Environmental Services is responsible for ensuring that the Environmental Services Managers (ESMs) in our Long Term Care Homes are properly selected, trained, supported and monitored to ensure that standard Environmental Services policies, programs and procedures are effectively implemented and maintained


Areas of responsibility include:

resident engagement and customer experience, housekeeping and laundry services, preventative maintenance, grounds management, equipment and machinery maintenance programs, waste management, resident safety and security and environmental sustainability.


Key Outcomes:


  • Resident Satisfaction for identified Environmental Services elements meets or exceeds targets
  • Standard Environmental Services programs are consistently executed
  • ESM competency is effectively assessed and improved, as necessary
  • Compliance with all environmental services programs is monitored and reported on
  • Standardized ESM onboarding program is executed
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection process for ESMs

Key Responsibilities:


  • Support and sustain standard programs and initiatives in area of responsibility including the following areas of maintenance:
  • Mechanical/electrical systems, HVAC, fire systems, nurse call and elevators;
  • Housekeeping & Laundry services including procedures and equipment specification standards;
  • Groundskeeping Services, including seasonal maintenance, scheduling and equipment specifications standards;
  • Implementation and maintains of policies and procedures as they relate to emergency preparedness, fire safety and loss prevention;
  • General building condition, general appeal of the building;
  • Assist in the implementation of the Environmental Services program for acquisitions, redevelopments and new build properties;
  • Ensure standards, policies and procedures are adhered to in order to drive operational and productivity improvement;
  • Proactively identify and support sites in cost controls as they relate to repairs & maintenance and utilities through best practices, contractor management and standard preventive maintenance agreements;
  • Support ESMs with maintenance contractor and supplier management, to ensure best value, identify savings and maximize efficiencies;
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams and support departments to ensure all programs, standards and policies are adhered to;
  • Remain up to date on all associated codes, standards, guidelines and legislation as required;
  • Drive document management compliance, at site level, as it relates to environmental service contracts and thirdparty vendors;
  • Provide expertise and build collaborative relationships with the ESMs to drive high levels of resident satisfaction and employee engagement;
  • Foster a culture of compliance, accountability and performance through staff engagement and effective communication;
  • Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera's Code of Conduct;
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education, Credentials and Experience:


  • Postsecondary education in building systems, property management or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three to five years (35) of environmental services experience, preferably in seniors living
  • Strong knowledge of infection control, housekeeping and laundry best practices an asset
  • Understanding of working in a unionized environment;
  • Strong change management skills and demonstrated ability to influence the efforts and behaviors of others in order to achieve desired results;
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, collaborative, and cross functional teamoriented culture;
  • Selfstarter and independent worker able to manage multiple priorities and demands;
  • Have excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and people management skills;
  • Must pass a Vulnerable Sector Check including Criminal Background Check
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel extensively within area of responsibility
