About the Project


The Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) project is one of many contracts to deliver the
Ontario Line, a 15.6-kilometre stand-alone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition/Ontario Place.

About the Role


We are seeking a results-driven
Design Coordinator tosupport the Connect6ix team to manage and deliver its design Scope of Works (SoW) for the Ontario Line (OL) project, as per Connect 6ix design and design quality management plans.


Key Responsibilities

  • To support Connect 6ix to ensure the design assurance processes are correctly undertaken and embedded into the design development process and in line with the overall Connect 6ix Baseline Schedule. Taken part in the development and implementation of the right tools and activities to ensure high level standards for the design deliverables.
  • To review the Connect 6ix design deliverables submitted 6ix by all the different designers involved in the delivery of Connect 6ix's SoW, and ensure designs are compliant with Connect 6ix contractual obligations.
  • To manage and support on the constructability and design reviews undertaken as part of the design development processes, together with the Connect 6ix delivery teams.
  • To liaise with the Document Control team to ensure the correct submission and exchange of information with the different OL stakeholders.
  • To organize, control and follow up processes to have all deliverables timely issued by the different stakeholders.
  • To attend/ manage design related meetings, including Discipline reviws, HAZID / HAZOP meetings, meetings with different OL project stakeholders, etc.
  • Ensure readiness and provide support to organize all internal/external audits required (PR, Third parties, Partners)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in major civil engineering works (over 4 years) and experience in design and design assurance processes.
  • Preference for railway knowledge including but not limited to civil, stations, depots, and rail systems.
  • Ability to write accurate and detailed reports.
  • A good communicator and able to build positive working relationships, internally and with the supply chain.
  • Ability to work on projects in a complex and multicultural environment
  • Degreelevel qualification in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in design management / design for mayor or multidisciplinary projects (preferable in railway although not indispensable), and demonstration of a good understanding of the design assurance process required as part of the processes linked to mayor civil works.
  • Experience in design of any Connect 6ix design SoW discipline (i.e., Civils, trackwork, architectural, MEP, Electrical, etc)
  • Experience in working within with multidisciplinary teams, in challenging environments. Good understanding of design interfaces, and the processes linked to the design development (ICDDs), and/or System Engineering techniques.
