Intent of the process:

The intent of this process is to fill 8 English essential EG-06 positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis.


This process may also be used to fill current and future vacancies in Esquimalt and Halifax with various employment tenures, language profiles, security requirements, and conditions of employment.

Information you must provide:

Your résumé.


Secondary school diploma or an employer-approved alternative*; AND Either: Journeyperson status in metal fabrication (Welding, Sheet Metal, or Plating), Piping, Shipwright, Painting or Rigging; OR Naval Hull Technician QL-6B; OR employer-approved alternative such as completion of Marine Surveyor training through International Association of Classification Society (IACS).


  • An employerapproved alternative includes the completion of technical training through an Apprenticeship or Naval Hull Technical Training Program.
Degree equivalency


Experience:


EX1:

Experience working as a Journeyperson in ship repair trade OR Naval Hull Technician at the QL-6B level OR Marine Surveyor.


EX2:
Experience employed as a Hull Inspector within a second or third line naval vessel maintenance facility OR as a Marine Surveyor within IACS

EX3:
Experience in reading and interpreting ship systems, construction and design drawings and technical orders.

EX4 Experience in developing or interpreting detailed work specifications to carry out corrective maintenance or report findings of hull inspections.


EX1:
Experience in using office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

EX2:
Experience in the use of a work management system, such as SAP.


Operational Requirements:
Willingness to travel outside the headquarter area for extended periods of time and - work in commercial repair facilities
Willingness to work overtime
Willingness to participate in training sessions, which may include on the job training, self-study and training in classrooms
