Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for managing and executing all aspects of event production.
Working in conjunction with all areas of the organization, the Production Manager will manage and oversee events, planning and detailing technical requirements, creating event and venue documentation for technicians, assisting with sourcing third party equipment and labour resources, assisting with developing and improving event procedures, and managing onsite technical support.
This position is comprised of an average 40-hour work week with the expectation that hours will be flexible and overtime may occur.
Job Duties
Production Management
- Review sales quotes with the account managers to confirm audiovisual details, venue, and event specific requests
- Work with the account managers on the event design/proposal preparation as required
- Successfully complete the preproduction, event production, and postproduction process
- Connect with clients and planners to finalize the details of their audiovisual requirements for their event and event documentation
- Manage event costs ensuring projected margins are achieved
- Liaise with clients, venue staff, and vendors and ensure all teams are setup for success
- Conduct virtual platform demos for existing and prospective clients
- Attend client meetings and site visits as required
- Develop and maintain knowledge of product and service offerings
- Provide leadership and supervision to production team members under your supervision
- Provide coaching, guidance, and tools to assist team members for growth and development
- Ensure quality control and consistency of company standards are maintained
- Ensure production team members and technicians are in compliance with all company and venue health and safety policies and procedures
- Create technical documentation and floorplans as required
- Create and manage production documentation such as: production schedules, event checklists, run of show, event notes, preevent reports and inspections
- Create and organize pull sheets and other event related documents
- Collect and organize event documentation and content from clients and venues
- Assist with creating and managing rental and labour purchase orders
- Assist with developing and improving onsite event procedures
- Manage and oversee the booking of labour for events via Lasso Workforce Management Software
- Assist with managing venue services as required
- Manage and oversee the creation of virtual event platforms as required
- Manage and delegate onsite leads and technicians
- Assist with the setup, operation, and dismantle of audiovisual equipment as required
- Act as a Show Caller as required
- Coach presenters and manage rehearsals as required
- Oversee the execution of events; manage the event space for outside productions and film shoots
- Ensure post event reports are completed and submitted within 24 hours of event completion
- Update the account manager for any additional equipment added and additional labour hours within 24 hours of event completion
- Schedule post event meetings with specific company and/or venue staff as required
- Manage post event recordings, video editing, and content transfers to clients
- Provide and maintain a positive relationship with all clients, vendors, employees, and independent contractors through effective communication
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Comply with company, industry, and legislative health & safety policies, procedures, standards, and best practices
- Attend company meetings as required
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance at all times
- Maintain a cooperative and sensitive teamwork attitude when dealing with clients

Requirements:
- Postsecondary education in event production, event management, hospitality, or business management
- 7+ years experience in the live events industry
- 5+ years experience in production management or equivalent work experience
- Knowledge of audiovisual equipment in a live event environment
- Proficiency with the use of computer hardware, software, and programs, including the Internet, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
- Ability to communicate orally and written at a professional working proficiency level or greater in the English language
- Extensive experience creating production schedules
- Experience booking and managing labour, and managing teams
- Ability to adapt to new technology
- Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
- Ability to work individually as well as part of a team
- High level of integrity and work ethic
- Strong negotiation skills with clients and vendors
