Almadina Language Charter Academy seeks an innovative and inspirational High School

Principal who will work collaboratively with and support the Superintendent to create a

positive and welcoming school climate where all students are encouraged to learn and

leadership skills, be well versed in the Leadership Quality Standards (LQS) and the

Teacher Quality Standards (TQS) and have a sound understanding of inclusive learner

understanding of the complexities of our new High School demographics and diverse

student needs and be able to help develop and put the necessary support accordingly.

The Principal must have the vision of inspiring education that is represented by three

long-term outcomes, known as "the three E's" of education (engaged thinker, ethical

citizen with an entrepreneurial spirit) in the context of a set of new competencies.

  • Be responsible for direct and ongoing communication and consultation with the
Administrators.

  • Ensure that staff are performing their duties in accordance with the School Policies
and Administrative Procedures as well as the Education Act.

  • Be a positive and confident instructional leader
  • Be a strong leader who demonstrates a deep understanding of Almadina's mission and
the responsibilities inherent in this position.

  • An educational leader that possesses the necessary skills to implement ef fective
instructional leadership and a clear understanding of the purpose and nature of

leadership experiences in a variety of other settings

  • Able to lead and guide educators while providing innovation, vision, and leadership
within a learner-centered environment

  • Researchdriven and actionoriented, based on current pedagogy and educational
Landscape

  • Energetic and approachable, someone who understands the importance of building
relationships and is collegial and collaborative with colleagues and stakeholders

  • Dedicated to excellence through high expectations of self, staff members and students
  • Be solution focused and be able to address problems and stressful situations in a
positive and calm manner

The Principal must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Develop relationships with the school community and communicate professionally with
all stakeholders both orally and in writing

  • Engage with the parent community and develop strong parental relationships to
encourage more parental involvement

  • Initiate and organize effective school programs, activities and services
  • Nurture and encourage a positive and inclusive school culture
  • Work collaboratively with all stakeholders, including school staff, students and school
council to achieve the goals of the school

  • Demonstrate a commitment to successful student academic achievement and ensure
that every student receives optimal learning opportunities in a safe and respectful

environment

  • Help develop effective staff professional development opportunities in col laboration
with the Professional Development committee.

  • To review yearly, monthly and/or daily and weekly lesson plans, monitor student
progress and encourage innovative teaching practices.

  • Have a good workingknowledge of technology to leverage learning
  • To review, edit, and revise all school/home communication, such as newsletter, forms,
report cards, incident reports, letters, etcprior to sending them out to parents

  • To assist in overall scheduling of staff and courses, timetable and supervision
schedules, etc

  • Utilize staff professional development structures within the school and beyond to
empower staff to employ instructional strategies that support all students' learning

needs (e.g. peer mentoring, coaching, etc ).

  • Collaborate with the Learning Coaches and teachers under the direction of the
Superintendent to create a yearly Professional Development plan based on the school's

needs

  • Maintain and implement the School's Discipline Policy and Procedures to manage
overall student behavioural issues in the school and on the bus and related

documentation.

  • Coordinate and oversee all student services and personal and universal programming
offered by WEP/Renfrew/ school counsellor, other external agencies, etc

  • The Transportation and Bus Liaison (First Student Canada)
  • To plan for Fire Drill / Lockdowns and seek support from CPS and other agencies as
needed

  • To supervise the Workplace Health and Safety Program
  • To supervise cleaning and sanitization services
  • To supervise school facility maintenance
  • To supervise and oversee O.H.S. tasks with the committee and review these with the
Superintendent
