SUMMARY:


The Link:

Youth and Family Supports is looking to fill contractor positions as a driver to work within our Supported Visiting Home which facilitates supervised overnight family visits for children and families involved in the Child and Family Services system.

This program provides a home-like setting where family visits can take place for 3-7 days at a time and will have staff on-site 24/7.

This role is responsible for transporting families and youth to and from other agencies, their homes or other placements to utilize the visitation home.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contractor include, but are not limited to:
  • Transporting participants and families to and from the visitation home using your own vehicle.
  • Maintaining the safety and upkeep of your vehicle, including filling up gas, check ups to ensure proper operating and safety standards of the vehicle.
  • Ensuring the safety of the passengers within the vehicle.
  • Communicate concerns, needs and observations to Team Lead and Program Supervisor
  • Works in collaboration with other teams and external service providers;
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with families in a supportive manner;
  • Experience working with vulnerable children and youth with an array of behavioural needs
  • Experience working with at risk youth and their caregivers is an asset.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing situations.
  • Ability to function in a demanding and stressful environment.
  • Ability to plan, manage and implement change effectively.

Conditions for Employment

  • Access to your own vehicle
  • Mileage will be reimbursed
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C, or the willingness to obtain
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry Check with acceptable Prior Contact Checks, and a clear Adult Registry check, all done in the last three months
  • A Valid Manitoba class 5F Driver's License, Vehicle insurance and driver's abstract

HOURS OF WORK:
This position is required to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.


Hourly Wage:
wage to be discussed based on individual contracts.
