Human Resources Manager


Overall Mandate:


  • Administer the Human Resources initiatives of Schuyler Farms Limited
  • Provide services to the organizations employees in a way that fosters a positive culture that is inclusive to all employees and cements Schuyler Farms Limited as an employer of choice.
  • Compile and maintain record keeping systems for the organization in a way that is accurate, complete, and done with integrity.
  • Complete filings and submissions that meet all regulatory requirements that the organization as directed by the Human Resources Manager.

  • This role requires an individual that can take requests, solve problems, and resolve concerns by making decisions efficiently and without prejudice. Determining urgency, acting with consistency, and gatekeeping issues that require insight from management.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:


Administration of Human Resources Policy:


  • Work with management to administer policies that meet the human resources needs of the organization and its employees.
  • Complete filings and record keeping as directed by management that are required for the organizations ongoing regulatory compliance.
This includes, but is not limited to the following programs or areas:


  • Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Worker Safety and Insurance Act
  • Employee Standards Act
  • Temporary Foreign Worker Program
  • Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program
  • Worker Housing
  • Understand, communicate, and use the Schuyler Farms Limited Employee Handbook as a guide when responding to and or administering the requests of individuals employed by the organization.
  • Act as first point of contact for the employee's questions about general policy.
  • Inform management in all observed instances where employees fail to uphold policy, and document these instances where required.
  • Complete files, and compile data and records as required for ongoing reporting or requests by management.

Examples of Administrative Tasks Relating to Employees:

  • Arrange travel and off farm accommodation for employees as required.
  • Collect information required for payroll, benefits, etc
  • Facilitate training as directed.
  • Complete forms for health and safety, WSIB, and other areas of record keeping.
  • Provide Operations with the employee information required to determine housing, start and end dates etc
  • Work with other administrative and or management staff on any of these example tasks or other tasks as assigned.

  • Accuracy and speed of administrative tasks.
  • Ability to respond efficiently, with an appropriate sense of urgency if required.
  • Ability to meet deadlines as needed.
  • Effective influence on policy compliance.
  • Contribution to success of recruitment programs, overall employee engagement and welfare, and the recognition of Schuyler Farms Limited as an employer of choice.

Education and Experience:


  • Business Degree or Certification in HR, Payroll, Accounting, or related field.
  • High School or equivalent diploma.
  • Relevant business experience in the absence of the above with demonstrated career advancement.

  • Desire and highlevel drive for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and processes documents after examining them for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to incorrect information received as above.
  • Ability to gate keep issues brought forth and respond without prejudice.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to be clear and concise in communication leaving nothing to interpretation.
  • Have a high degree of emotional intelligence and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to different audiences and manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with laws and legislation surrounding human resources.
  • Knowledge of payroll programs and payroll contractual language.
  • Understands accounting fundamentals such as debits, credits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budgets.
  • Understands wage laws, confidentiality policies, employee notification requirements, and other regulatory policies.
  • Selfstarter and eager to learn new concepts, skills, and systems.
  • Agility to adapt to change, manage evolving issues or situations, and backfill critical roles where required.
  • Excellent time management, with the ability to prioritize and delegate where required, and act with an appropriate sense of urgency.
