Position Overview:


Manage and provide guidance to derivative operations teams responsible for daily/monthly administration of trade processing, cash management, valuation, reconciliation and client service for a select group of complex corporate clients or investment managers who invest in derivatives products.


Responsibilities:


  • Working with the vice president, responsible for driving the team to embrace best practices and continually enhance the operating model; supporting a goalcompletion valued culture that supports career development, increasing productivity, delivering solutions that work for internal/external clients, driving accountability, and aligning goals and priorities to strategic direction of CIBC Mellon.
  • Support and assist in all aspects of resource management (selection, training and development, performance management, retention, recognition) and maintain current staff information such as current headcount, budgeted headcount, turnover, staff salaries, incentive/merit information and staff organizational charts.
  • Support and/or lead process improvement or related projects to ensure that the team utilizes best available technology and system capabilities for trade capture & processing, reconciliation, and valuation.
  • Support and assist in new business conversions, systems conversions and projects. Assess staffing needs, delegate and assign new business and/or new accounts to teams to ensure productivity and quality standards are met and remedy critical situations immediately
  • Represent Derivatives Operations team in client, broker, custodian, or other third party service provider meetings.
  • Review regulatory changes for derivative instruments and ascertain impact to business unit to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee and/or lead, as necessary, internal audit, SOC1, and external audit requests, adhering to and meeting all related deadlines.
  • Ensure that all critical controls to minimize risk exposure are in place for teams' accounts. Responsible to ensure the accurate reporting of quality control measures (overdrafts, fails, NAV errors, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Implement change management plans that minimize employee resistance and maximize employee engagement to ultimately drive faster adoption, greater ultimate utilization and higher proficiency on the changes impacting employees in the organization.

Qualifications:


  • University degree or equivalent with concentration in business, finance or accounting
  • 7 years progressive experience
  • Proven strong management skills
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course
  • Completion of Derivatives Fundamentals Course
  • Thorough knowledge of the securities industry, specifically derivative instruments
