- Manage the activities of the Estimating Department.
- Manage and set direction for direct reports, maintaining KIRCHHOFF Automotive procedures and policies.
- Determine the cost of producing automotive parts and/or components and assemblies for car manufacturers based on customer requirements.
- Directs the activities of the Department and provides support to them during program preparation, program launch, initial production phases, and achievement of engineering standards as well as quality criteria.
- Responsible for the development of firstline supervision based on strategic direction.
- Maintains positive employee relations and addresses issues in timely manner. Seeks advice/counsel from appropriate sources as required.
- Reviews blueprint drawings and Customer Statement of Requirements to determine whether KIRCHHOFF Automotive is capable of producing part/component based on customer quality requirements.
- Reviews blank layout and stamping process of part to determine type and cost of material required to establish tonnage of press required to produce part.
- Reviews number of parts produced per hour.
- Determines if surface treatment, (i.e. galvanizing, painting, etc.) and welding are required and includes in quotation.
- Compiles all information and selects a minimum of two sources that can provide a quotation for stamping/die.
- Approves quotations and forwards to CEO/Sales.
- Visits potential sources to view processes for capability and product quality within standards set by the company.
- Provides training to selected internal employees on quotation process and prepares handout material as required.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Tool and Die Design or Tool Making
- Sound working knowledge of Production equipment and the manufacturing process in stamping, welding, riveting and automation to ensure valueadded business can be utilized by KIRCHHOFF Automotive
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong analytical and mathematical ability
- Effective use of problemsolving and decisionmaking skills
- Ability to read blue print drawings
