The Ministry of Health has overall responsibility for ensuring that quality, appropriate, cost effective and timely health services are available for all British Columbians.


The Program Assistant provides a variety of office administrative, secretarial and financial support services for the Assistant Deputy Minister's office in the Health Sector Workforce & Beneficiary Services Division, also a liaison with ministry executive offices.


Job Requirements:


  • Secondary school graduation
    OR;:
  • Successful completion of General Educational Development (GED),
    OR;:
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum one year administrative/clerical/secretarial experience working in an office setting.
  • Experience typing, formatting, and proofreading a variety of documents using MS Office (Outlook/ Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint) or similar programs.
  • Experience managing a calendar including scheduling/booking meetings, appointments, events and travel arrangements.

Preference may be given to applicants who have:

  • Post-secondary education or training in a field related to business, office or public administration.
  • More than one year administrative/clerical/secretarial experience working in an office setting.
  • Experience in records management practices, process and filing systems, including the set up and implementation of a records management system (e.g. ARCS and ORCS).
  • Experience with managing credit accounts and processing financial transactions.
