As the Royal Canadian Air Forces' prime service provider at 5 Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, our team delivers comprehensive air operations, emergency services, logistics and engineering expertise to the Department of National Defence.

We work on behalf of DND's "no fail" mission at Goose Bay:

supporting NORAD operations for the projection of air power on the north and northeast coasts of Canada, while supporting military training for the Canadian Armed Forces, Allies and NORAD.

5 Wing Goose Bay provides effective training facilities, adaptable infrastructures, and a unique, austere, and challenging training location. Currently, Serco Canada has over 1,200 employees across four provinces, including a strong and growing Indigenous workforce.


You will be part of a team that works closely with the military customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality and efficient services to DND.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Assist tradespeople as required.
  • Carry out small jobs without journeyperson supervision as required.
  • Minor electrical tasks such as change light bulbs/fixtures.
  • Check buildings for freeze ups, leaks and other issues as required.
  • Assist with painting when needed including line painting.
  • Complete meter readings when reqired.
  • Provide escort to subcontractors and visitors as required.
  • Order materials if required.
  • Complete time keeping tasks according to policies.
  • May be required to work in remote areas.
  • Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on a time.
  • Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.
  • Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.
***Qualifications:
  • Minimum two years' experience in carpentry and/or mechanical background.
  • Completion of a carpentry or a mechanical course would be an asset.
  • Possession of a valid NL Class 5 driver's license is required.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield may be required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Level II security clearance.
  • Current confined space, fall protection, aerial lift, and powerline hazards training/certificates would an asset.
  • Ability to obtain a drug and alcohol test.
  • Ability to obtain a driver abstract.

Hourly rate:
$26.79 Hours per week: 37.5
