The Department of Oncology's mission is to be a recognized leader in integrated cancer care, education and research.

Responsibilities:


The Program Coordinator (Postgraduate Medical Education) provides administrative expertise for all aspects of Medical Education as it relates to Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) Programs in Medical Oncology.

The role is responsible for a wide range of advanced and diversified program coordination and support functions within the department that requires a high degree of confidentiality.

The role is a key resource to internal/external stakeholders on a variety of matters related to the Program.

The Program Coordinator plays a key role in the planning, coordination and management of the operations of Medical Oncology PGME programs, including the coordination of the Canadian Resident Matching Service interviews, Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada internal and external accreditation reviews, Resident Research Day, Examinations, Rotation/Leave Schedule for Residents and Fellows, Competency Based Medical Education etc.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • 3 year community college diploma in Business or medical office administration
  • Experience:
  • 5 years' experience in an administrative environment supporting educational programs
  • Experience in a university/hospital setting preferred
  • Experience with medical terminology preferred
  • Experience with project coordination
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and confidence interacting with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Strong judgement, analytical and problemsolving skills, especially regarding confidential/sensitive matters
  • Knowledge of the Departmental, University and LHSC policies and procedures and reviews, accreditations preferred
  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships within department, with other departments and key stakeholders
  • Ability to work well under pressure and independently (with mínimal supervision) with a considerable degree of initiative and collaboratively in a team environment when needed
  • Responsible for frequent coordination of complex schedules, activities, functions, events among impacting internal and external stakeholders
  • Responsible for exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and efficient time management
  • Demonstrated experience setting up data tables and reports
  • Ability to handle multiple conflicting priorities/projects in a fastpaced environment with frequent interruptions; and meeting deadlines with a high degree of accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to set up data tables and reports
  • Positive, outgoing attitude with a commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office and Western and Hospital administrative systems and software (e.g. PeopleSoft, SAS database, Adobe, Elantra, Cascade, PubMed and Outlook)
  • Ability to travel other sites and out of town for meetings (WRCP) and be in for early morning and late evening meetings during the week as required
