We are currently seeking a

_City Dispatch Manager_
***to join our team in our

_Winnipeg Terminal_.


Summary


The Manager of City Dispatch is responsible for all operations and assignments from the Winnipeg City operations that include; peddle, parcel, shunt, ambient and volume business runs.

Coordinates with dock supervisors to maintain the flow of inbound and outbound loads in the most efficient manner, cognizant and sensitive to customer's expectations and overall service guarantee.

Effectively communicates with other department managers and terminal managers to cultivate and maintain relationships in order to ensure a high level of service.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides positive friendly service to all internal and external customers
  • Oversees a team of dispatchers, call takers and shunt drivers in delivery of service excellence
  • Seeks to improve efficiencies, initiate customer solutions and make room for more business opportunities
  • Trains, coaches and supports team by setting clear expectations, role modeling behavior and participating in daily activities
  • Plans driver requirements and equipment allocation based on business influx and needs
  • Reviews equipment needs and gaps by forecasting improvements and estimated ROI
  • Assists and supports dispatch supervisors with performance management, employee relations and employee development
  • Verify success of all calls
  • Communicate with other managers regarding ontime deliveries, missshipments, and damages
  • Administers all paperwork in compliance with regulations, applicable laws and customer requests
  • Tracks, monitors and reports on all KPI's weekly, monthly and yearly
  • Supervises ongoing productivity measures to maintain compliance and adhesion to goals and objectives
  • Works with maintenance department on breakdowns and outofservice units
  • Participates in all health and safety initiatives
  • Contributes to the management team by assisting as requested

Supervisory Responsibilities
Is responsible for leading, managing and supervising the City dispatch team.


Qualifications


Minimum of three years of experience in managerial role in a large (greater than 50 pieces of equipment) fast-paced environment with emphasis on efficient communication and leadership.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Must have experience in dispatch and freight-specific/transportation industry. Ambient experience would be considered beneficial.


Physical Requirements


For this position, you will be required to sit predominantly using a PC for long periods to entirety of shift.
