POSTION SUMMARY
This full-time position is responsible for the general and preventative maintenance of the building as directed by the Building Maintenance Manager.
POSITION REPORTING
Reports to the Manager of Building Maintenance
HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time, permanent position including after hours on-call responsibilities. Must be available to work daytime hours, but actual schedule is somewhat flexible.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with maintenance for all physical building operations.
- Physical demands include, but are not limited to: walking, standing, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting up to 50 lbs and using a step ladder.
- Monitors and perform preventative maintenance on facilities and equipment at
YWCA Saskatoon and the
Saskatoon Community Village; an 80,000 square foot facility including onsite shelter residence, office space, meeting rooms and fitness centre. - Notify Manager prior to beginning work when a maintenance job is beyond the maintenance workers skillset
- Complete all work according to all government standards
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to appropriate loss prevention measures
- Ensure Material Safeties Data Sheet (MSDS) information to remain current
- Responsible for maintaining routine and specialized equipment warranties and maintenance agreements for machinery and equipment within facility
- Perform daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual facility safety checks.
- Skills or experience in the following areas would be considered an asset: painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, dry wall, cement and tile masonry, or other recognized trades for the purpose of maintaining, repairing or remodelling YWCA owned and operated facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma preferred
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to create effective working relationships with employees and the public
- Ability to accomplish requirements of the position adhering to maintenance best practices
- Skill in operation of a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment commonly used in building maintenance facilities
- Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures; ability to follow proper safety techniques according to YWCA Saskatoon policies
- It is considered an asset to possess current status for basic CPR and First Aid.
- All YWCA employees are required to submit a Criminal Record Check as part of the process of employment.
