Description

Faculty of Education

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Developmental Studies

Located in Treaty 1 Territory in the homeland of the Red River Métis, the university is situated on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabeg, Ininíwak, Anishinini, Oceti Sakowin, and Denesuline peoples.

The Faculty of Education offers a five-year integrated Bachelor of Education (BEd) program, a two-year after-degree BEd stream, a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Education for in-service teachers, and a graduate program in Marriage and Family Therapy.

In addition, the Developmental Studies program is housed in the Faculty of Education.

We offer a three-year multidisciplinary Bachelor of Arts degree; a four-year joint Bachelor of Arts degree in partnership with Red River College Polytechnic and Université de Saint-Boniface which enables students to receive provincial certification in early childhood education (ECE II and III); and elective courses to meet requirements for the Early Years stream of the Bachelor of Education program.

We strive to provide academic opportunities in partnership with Indigenous, racialized people, people with inner-city experience, as well as single parents, mature students, and newcomers.

In addition to the preparation of early childhood educators and preservice teachers leading to provincial certification, programming at the University of Winnipeg provides additional foci on urban inner-city education, coalition building, and decolonial liberation work.

Subject to budgetary approval, the appointment will take effect on July 1, 2024, or as soon afterward as possible. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
