What can I expect to do in this role?:

Reporting to the Legal Director, in this role you will:

  • Provide legal advice on a broad range of issues including drafting and interpreting commercial agreements
  • Assist internal OCWA client groups with identifying legal risks associated with the Agency's business
  • Negotiate agreements with the Agency's municipal and industrial clients, preparing/advising on Request for Proposals/Request for Tenders / Request for Quotations and providing general legal advice on contracts, insurance, procurement issues
  • Educate internal client groups on various legal issues, including the implication of new legislation

How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada

Knowledge & Skills:


  • Knowledge of and expertise in corporate commercial law and commercial transactions, contract drafting and procurement law, risk management
  • Understanding of the Agency's regulatory environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team in a fastpaced operational environment that is highly regulated
  • Computer and independent research skills
