GFL Environmental is looking for a Afternoon Maintenance Supervisor to be based out of site located at Canada Fibers Material Recycling Facility in 335 Mazenod Road

The shift is Monday to Friday 1pm to 11pm. Weekend OT as needed.

Responsibility and Duties


Staffing:

Staff training and development.
Overseeing Plant Operations on a direct basis 3pm to 6pm
Overseeing Maintenance team on direct basis.
Project a positive and caring attitude toward all staff to help improve motivation and employee morale.
Encourage staff to come forward with new ideas and suggestions.
Report any grievance and or disciplinary action with manager.
Evaluate employee performance regularly and document.


Operations:

Develop a full understanding of the Single Stream Processing System.
Maintain System through rigorous PM program. Ensure optimal daily performance.
Achieve operating efficiency of 100% uptime.

Develop and understand the correct conveyor belt speeds and proper material burden depths to create a balanced material flow and achieve the proper tonnes per hour.

Detect potential problems and bottlenecks to proactively correct problems.

Direct supervision of all areas to ensure that the work performed is at the highest efficiency to meet all quality specs.

Evaluate and report to manager daily downtime for the purpose of systems troubleshooting and process improvement.
Review parts inventory to ensure we have the correct spare parts inventory level. Audits as required.
Discuss daily, all operations/maintenance with operations manager
Formally document any maintenance or repair issues.
Inspect equipment regularly and prepare deficiency reports daily for scheduled maintenance.


Safety Responsibilities:

Responsible for overall plant safety and assuring that all staff are trained and comply with GFL Environmental Inc. Health and Safety Policy.

Assure that all staff and visitors to the plant wear the appropriate safety gear when in the plant and have been trained in the correct use.

Report any accident to the Operations Manager immediately.
Include the filling out of all forms with regards to accident investigations and recommendations.


General Responsibilities:

Manage staff in a professional and courteous manner
Attend safety committee meetings and follow up on action plans


Safety:

Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment as assigned.

This includes the following but is not limited to:

CSA approved Safety boots (6" height)
Hearing Protection
High Visibility Clothing
Gloves
Safety Glasses
CSA approved Hard Hats


Job Specific Hazards:

Temperature - dress according to the weather as there is no climate control at workstation.
Dusty environment - dust masks are available to be worn as required.
Eye injuries could occur due to various items on the sort line ie. glass. Safety glasses must be always worn.
Forklifts/bobcats are a hazard when traveling throughout the plant. Be aware of your surroundings and always wear high visibility clothing.
Trip hazards are present in your workstation and throughout the plant. Be sure to keep your workstation clean and neat at all times.
Trucks could move from dock if wheel chocks are not in place while loading/unloading.
There are potential fall hazards in the shipping area if material is not stacked neatly/securely.
