Chronic Pain Support Group Peer Facilitator hours/month)

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Cofacilitate group meetings twice a month (rotating schedule)
  • Clearly states Recovery College YVR's community standards and group guidelines
  • Supports and engages group members in a nonjudgmental and supportive manner
  • Connect support group participants through discussion about shared common experiences
  • Provide support and guidance to participants, facilitate conversation and encourage problem solving and support among members
  • Ensures a psychologically safe space for participants
  • Uses personal lived experience with chronic pain to provide hope and empower participants
  • Submits monthly invoice for facilitation work
  • Submits group attendance to RC YVR program assistant
  • Attend monthly group facilitator checkin meetings
  • Attend any mandatory skills training

  • Respects and upholds the confidentiality of group participants

Qualifications

  • Computer with reliable internet connection
  • Competency with Zoom (including advanced functions)
  • Previous experience facilitating support and/or therapy groups
  • Experience working with and/or supporting people living with chronic pain
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of pain physiology
  • Vulnerable Population Criminal Record Check
  • Lived experience with chronic pain is required
  • Peer support training preferred

Recovery College Manager


Special Considerations
:
This group meets via Zoom on Tuesday afternoons, 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm.


Peer facilitators co-facilitate on a rotating schedule. Some hours outside of group time will be required to attend facilitator check-ins and skills training sessions hours per month.


Hourly Wage:
$25
