Responsibilities:


The Research Associate will participate in a project that involves characterization of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) using multinuclear solid-state NMR spectroscopy.

Specifically, the RA will be engaged in analyzing multinuclear solid-state NMR spectra of metal-organic frameworks via spectral simulation, carrying out DFT calculations, conducting literature review and writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

The RA will be supervised by Professor Yining Huang.

The applicants should be highly familiar with various NMR simulation and DFT calculation software packages and NMR pulse sequences and experimental methods.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • PhD degree in Chemistry and be specialized in solid-state NMR spectroscopy
  • Experience:
  • 4 years experience in MOF characterization using solid-state NMR

Skills, Abilities & Expertise:

  • Exceptional ability in manuscript writing
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant scientific/research principles
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
  • Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users, and to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
  • Detailoriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Familiarity with University research policies and practices
  • Ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies
