Steel Purchaser to join our dynamic team based in Delta's Tilbury Park.

We are located in Tilbury Industrial Park in Delta BC, with four ways to get here - the Massey Tunnel, Alex Fraser Bridge, South Fraser Perimeter Rd., and Hwy 99.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Procurement of raw materials and negotiating best prices with vendors.
  • Procurement of shop supplies, cutting tools, fabrication consumables, and shop equipment.
  • Ensuring the suppliers and subcontractors deliver on time and on budget.
  • Communicate with suppliers when unresolved issues occur.
  • Maintaining the supplier database, ensuring that purchase records and related documentation are coming from the vendor as required.
  • Working with the Sales Manager to ensure upstream team members are supplying the appropriate information to the purchasing team.
  • Maintain ERP database for POs and update as required to ensure accuracy of information.
  • Collaborate with Engineers & Quality Assurance to ensure that documentation is complete.
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Supporting the other purchasers.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • 5+ years experience in a purchasing role or supply chain management in the steel industry.
  • A degree or Professional Certification is an asset.
  • General knowledge of the steel fabrication supplies and industry.
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Competency in understanding construction, material specifications, and standards requirements.
  • Proven ability to negotiate with suppliers on pricing & delivery.
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management to assess, manage and minimize risk.
  • Motivated selfstarter who can work with mínimal supervision.
  • Use of ERP software, Microsoft Office Suite, and Bluebeam.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
