About the Opportunity:


The Forensic Sexual Behaviour Program (FSBP) offers specialized assessment and treatment services to individuals in Nova Scotia whose sexual behavior has crossed legal boundaries.

Treatment is currently being offered in four areas across the province (Kentville, Dartmouth, Truro and Sydney), whereas assessment is primarily centralized in Dartmouth where the coordination of FSBP services for the province is based.


The Psychology Technician will work conjointly with the coordinating psychologist and assessment team to ensure the effective provision of comprehensive sexual behaviour assessments.

Duties will primarily include addressing informed consent and proceeding with the administration, scoring and joint interpretation of psychological assessment data (particularly penile plethysmography), report-writing, research and database maintenance activities, some limited involvement in treatment, and participation in team meetings.

All duties will be performed independently, with support and supervision provided by the coordinating psychologist.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology required with Honours in Psychology preferred; must be from an accredited university
  • Experience conducting quantitative research or successful completion of advanced statistics university courses is required
  • One year of related experience preferred; particularly experience working with forensic patients or correctional offenders
  • Knowledge of relapse prevention principles and awareness of issues in the use and interpretation of penile plethysmography is preferred.
  • Experience working with database, wordprocessing, and statistical programs (e.g., SPSS) is required
  • Ability to troubleshoot technological glitches in software and problemsolve unexpected difficulties is expected
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French or Mi'kmaq preferred

  • Permanent Full Time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $36.82 hourly
