We are looking for an Exhibit Display Preparator
As an
Exhibit Display Preparator, you will provide a unique creative service to the exhibition programs of the Museum.

Providing consultations, cost estimating and display options as well as fabrication of elements with respect to exhibition production, installation, maintenance and dismantling.

This can include:

artefact mounts, décor, structures, showcases and graphic elements in various museums and other exhibition venues, for the installation and dismantling of CMH travelling exhibitions, while maintaining the professional principles for museum artefact handling and presentation.

A minimum of (2) years of relevant experience in:

Artefact preparation for museum exhibitions, including mount-making;
The installations of diverse exhibitions with mixed media;
Scheduling and cost estimating time and materials within the larger exhibition project framework;
Evaluating and contributing to technical design drawings for exhibitions;
Creating scenic, modeled, or sculpted displays within an exhibition composition.

Knowledge of:

Museum artefact preparation, related materials and techniques;
Museological practices for care of collections;
The use of related tools and equipment;
Materials and methods of scenic and model display creations;
Museum exhibition development processes.

Education:

A three (3) year College Diploma in Museum Technology or related field and/or the completion of an accredited apprenticeship OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working conditions:

Ability to lift up to 15 kg
Ability to manipulate, handle and move displays, artefacts or other materials in awkward positions and hardtoreach areas, using best practices.

Compensation:
E5C $ 62,989 to $ 77,955 (under review)

Status:
Temporary Full-Time Position for a 6 month period with possibility of extension.

Enhanced Reliability
