Reporting to the Senior Director - Provincial Quality, Research & Integrated Care, the Project Manager, Research and Knowledge Exchange is responsible for the management of projects under the Cardiac Services BC (CSBC) provincial mandate relating to the broad areas of research and knowledge exchange.

This position has a lead role in information dissemination and education for the public, service providers, and relevant policy/decision makers; and informs research, health system support processes, and academic development.

As a member of the CSBC Quality, Research & Integrated Care portfolio, the Project Manager provides leadership to projects under programs and initiatives relating to knowledge exchange and education, research, health system support/networks, and specialized consultation and evaluation supporting the CSBC's vision, mandate, and strategic directions.

The Project Manager is integrally involved in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of related projects, and maintains primary responsibility for overall project management.

The Project Manager contributes to team efforts, with internal and external partners, on ongoing programs and initiatives to improve the quality and accessibility of cardiovascular care and prevention efforts, and in related research and knowledge exchange activities.

This position works closely with a variety of internal leaders such as the Manager of Biostatistics and Analytics to ensure effective translation of research findings into action for practitioners, decision-makers, and the public.


What you'll do

  • Contributes to the pursuit of research, practice and knowledge exchange opportunities through the development and building of relationships with Regional Health Authorities (RHAs), health related communitybased organizations, university research networks, communication and knowledge exchange units, the private sector, and other key players to explore and pursue further research, practice, and knowledge exchange opportunities.
  • Contributes to the management and facilitation of efforts to identify best practicegrounded strategies and activities for health professionals, policy/decision makers, and the public in research, practice and policy.
  • Tracks project progress according to project plans and identified metrics. Monitors and reports on the status of projects and major barriers encountered. Makes recommendations to senior leadership regarding project scope and related changes required to facilitate a successful outcome. Implements or contributes to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk through the project lifecycle.
  • Participates in the development and monitoring of project budgets within the context of operational demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets.
  • Manages a variety of projects of varying size and scope in a complex and changing multidisciplinary environment by performing duties such as establishing project charters and project plans with timelines and project deliverables. Executes project plans according to project methodologies, ensuring successful and coordinated completion of project components; consults with stakeholders and ensures readiness for project implementation.
  • Provides leadership to project staff by giving advice and/or guidance in situations that require interpretation and judgement.
  • Participates in various committees, working groups and research and practice networks involving a variety of internal and external stakeholder groups to support the implementation of projects.
  • Assists in coordinating provincial planning exercises to ensure the development of comprehensive and integrated provincial strategies and specialized services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What you bring

Qualifications:


  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a master's degree in Health, Social Sciences, or Business Administration plus a minimum of five (5) years in a project planning or management role in a health, social services, government, or community organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content areas including cardiovascular research and clinical practices; health systems and policy; population health, prevention, and health promotion; and knowledge exchange.
