Role Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the Catering Sales Manager will focus on selling meeting, convention, and social events while providing superior customer service and maximizing operational efficiencies and profitability.
Key Accountabilities- Creates and implements a sales plan with measurable objectives that supports the hotels overall strategy. This includes preparing and submitting quarterly and monthly action plans, which include sales campaigns, trade shows, and hotel promotions.
- Achieves timely and accurate processing of professional quotes, contracts, reports, and client correspondence by proficiency in administrative duties, including maintaining accurate and organized files and records, and completing documentation related to sales function.
- Showcasing the property to new and existing clients, to build and maintain positive and profitable relationships. Conduct site tours as well as virtual, inperson and written presentations.
- Completing property RFPs and bids by set deadlines.
- Working in tandem with the Sales Manager, Events Manager, and Catering Operations Manager to utilize meeting space as a revenue generator for the entire property.
- Work cohesively with the hotel leadership team to communicate definite business booked with the details agreed upon to ensure success for our guests through the operations team.
- Analyzes sales to determine profitability based on business on the books & opportunities within the market.
- Identifies and analyzes competition, both locally and regionally to shift market share to our property.
- Maintains industry and professional expertise by participating actively in industry and/or professional events and conferences, reviewing relevant industry communication and analyst reports.
- Attends community events and fosters the positive image of the hotel within the community.
- Provides guidance to Hotel associates on sales issues as they relate to the operation.
- Other duties as required.
- Diploma or degree in related area preferred
- A minimum of 3 years of sales and/or catering experience in a premium hotel or similar environment
- Proven ability and eagerness to sell and meet and set sales and performance targets
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required
- Extensive knowledge in meetings and events along with demonstrated interest in industry trends
- Demonstrates a superior customer service attitude with internal and external contacts
- Independent, selfstarter, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks & competing priorities
- Advanced computer skills, experience with Google workspace and sales & event management systems is beneficial (Marriott's CI-TY preferred)
- Professional appearance and attitude
- An outgoing personality with courteous social skills in group situations
- Ability to travel locally
