Overview:


  • Acts as a primary resource for employees and leaders on matters pertaining to Occupational Health
  • Administers Attendance Awareness Programs
  • Administers WSIB, STD and LTD claims
  • Communicates regularly with WSIB claims adjudicators, and case managers to help bring about successful claims management.
  • Completes and submits essential WSIB forms within appropriate time frames.
  • Conducts education programs for employees regarding new trends, equipment, regulations and procedures
  • Coordinates modified work programs, WSIB program, and confidentiality agreements
  • Coordinates return to work/modified work programs in conjunctions with employee and Supervisors
  • Evaluates an employee's suitability to work/return to work and educate staff on OH
  • Facilitates the rehabilitation of employees by maintaining contact during convalescence from long term illness or injury
  • Ensures Health Assessment paperwork is completed for new employees
  • Working with the clinical team implements and maintains the Immunization program and fit testing program according to policy and legislation.
  • Participates in the orientation process of all new employees and students
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities
  • Participates as an active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and on other hospital committees as assigned
  • Oversees Physical Demands Analysis (PDA)
  • Promotes employee attendance and productivity by monitoring of shortterm sick leave, liaison with Supervisors and staff, and health teaching.
  • Refers employees for Functional Abilities Evaluation to assess an employee's ability to perform his/her regular job tasks in relation to current health status
  • Submits employee incident summons to the JHSC within 3 days of the occurrence
  • Works collaboratively with members of the Joint Health and Safety Committee to ensure implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Develops learning and education for employees and leaders
  • Develops eLearning content to support organizational programs

Qualifications:


  • Completion of an approved program in Occupational Health
  • Degree or Diploma in Health related field
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Healthcare
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Thorough understanding of related and pending legislation
  • Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred
  • Certificate in Adult Learning an asset

  • Demonstrated knowledge of occupational health and safety and knowledge of applicable legislation
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues and to establish collaborative working relationships
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate initiative and good judgment in problem solving identify opportunities for action.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency

  • Proven organizational, facilitation and presentation skills
