This position is limited to NAIT internal staff only.


Reporting to the School of Skilled Trades Dean's Office, this position will oversee the sponsorship of Apprenticeship Students within the School of Skilled Trades.

The position will be responsible for the coordination and development/improvement of processes for NAIT as a sponsor of apprentices. The purpose of this position is to build relationships with apprenticeship students, employers/industry representatives, and NAIT staff.

The incumbent of this position works very closely with operational & academic leadership within the school to ensure that students are successful in their education pathway and apprenticeship progression.


Key Responsibilities:

Apprenticeship sponsorship will encourage and enable the progression and completion of an apprenticeship program


Other responsibilities include:

  • Sponsorship for apprenticeship program progression and completion
  • Sign apprenticeship education agreements with apprentices.
  • Find employment opportunities for apprentices.
  • Provide or ensure highquality paid onthejob instruction through mentorship.
  • Collaborate with other sponsors, as needed, to provide apprentices with experience in the full scope of the profession.
  • Ensure mentor responsibilities are met, including mentortoapprentice ratios.
  • Maintain employment records for apprentices.
  • Ensure forms, documents, and records of period completion are submitted.
Relationship/Brand management

  • Create and maintain relationships for students with both internal and external stakeholders to provide employment opportunities in their apprenticeship.
Enrollment Awareness

  • Monitoring students and employment prospects to ensure that we have placement opportunities for NAITsponsored apprenticeship students.
  • Guide eligible participants on AIT and NAIT enrolment practices to support the participant's enrolment in their program of choice.
Student Support

  • Connect apprenticeship students to resources to support progression and academic success.
  • Awareness of EDI and how it supports and impacts apprenticeship.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships and manage conflicts effectively.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work efficiently with mínimal supervision.

Qualifications:


  • Relevant Post-Secondary education required (degree, diploma, and/or Journeyperson certificate with Red Seal).
years of related experience

  • Driver's license
  • Due to the focus of this role in supporting Apprentices, preference may be given to individuals possessing a Journeyperson certificate with Red Seal

Remuneration:
$2, $3,148.35 biweekly, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification -Coordinator I).

  • This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement_
