JOB SUMMARY:
Perform general duty cooking at the Day Care Centres maintaining high standards of quality food preparation, which meets the nutritional needs of the children as per the _Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014_ and _Canada Food Guide_.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; plus
- Additional courses in cooking or nutrition preferred.
- Must possess Safe Good Handling Certificate.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in food preparation in direct, institutional environment.
SKILLS:
- Must possess knowledge of kitchen operating procedures and food handling, storage and safekeeping.
- Must be able to adjust menus as required.
- Must be aware of safety and fire regulations.
- Must possess a clear understanding of the _Canada Food Guide_.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to undergo a Criminal Records Check and submit a Canadian Police Clearance Certificate.
- Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices, work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons.
- Must meet and maintain requirements in the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014; health assessment and proof of current records of immunizations as recommended by the Medical Officer of Health.
Shift Information:
This position is currently scheduled days. Must be willing and able to work up to 24 hrs per week.
