Driver - Flatbed/Crane Operator

Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor.

The Driver will be responsible for driving a flatbed truck and operating a crane on site from time to time.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Education

Highschool Diploma or equivalent.

Years of Experience

Minimum 3+ years of heavy commercial experience of operating heavy vehicle/trucks; and
Crane License;
Driver must bring with them a letter of experience from their previous employer or employer's insurer, a current dated CVDR from Service Ontario and completion of a Driver questionnaire provided by State.

Working Conditions

Work may involve some exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperature, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and loud noises;
On site work environment involves some exposure to hazards of physical risks that require knowledge of an adherence to basic safety procedures;
Work environment required wearing PPE in certain locations;
Required to lift up to 50 pounds; and
Flexible to work overtime as required.

Required Skills:

Clean driving record;
Up to date NCCCO or equivalent crane certification as required;
Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI standards in crane operations;
Flexible and able to adapt to fluctuations in the production schedule;
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fastpaced environment;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrate State's core values and work in a team environment; and
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Job Specific Duties

Tie material to truck;
Drive flatbed truck or cube van as required;
Deliver, pick up materials and make several stops;
Check that loads are secure;
Perform daily equipment safety checks, conduct daily vehicle inspections and reporting any problems;
Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards and securing cargo;
Operate Boom Truck crane as required;
Load and unload curtain wall mullions/material bundled and up to 24 feet long;
Represent State when delivering and on the road; and
Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
