Position Description:

The Food Security and Program Support worker promotes housing stability and food security for marginalized individuals, supporting their health, wellness, and community belonging through community-building activities and wellness initiatives.

Parkdale Landing, Hamilton, ON


What You Will Be Doing:


  • Working as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide direct and indirect support to individuals.
  • Planning and facilitating food programs
  • Working in collaboration with Food Program Facilitators
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment, including light cleaning of common areas and kitchen.
  • Following applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Reinforcing individuals' life skills, spirituality, and social and community skills by supporting participation in cultural, spiritual, recreations, leisure, and social activities.
  • Arranging and coordinating aspects of recreational and community activities.
  • Documentation of events, including program planning, tracking of participants, evaluation of events.
  • Developing therapeutic relationships.

Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Requirements:


  • Be between the ages of 1830 at start of employment
  • Be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Be in possession of a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Be available to work for the duration of the contract

Education/Experience:
Minimum High School diploma, experience in food programs or services is an asset.
